In the process of making this game, I knew from the beginning I wanted to make a platformer. It's probably my favorite genre of games, and I wanted to do it justice. Sure, it's a bit basic, but I think there's enough substance for what it's meant to be. The game itself is just meant to be fun and whimsical, not particularly focused on story, just the gameplay and environmental exploration. I went for something more akin to the "collect-a-thon" style, similar to Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie. I took a lot of inspiration from M64, especially the prospect of collecting five small things to earn one big thing. It's like my own sugar-fied version of Bob-Omb Battlefield, which was the main level I was inspired by. A bit of me also thinks this is inspired by Wreck-it-Ralph with all the Sugar Rush candy decor. There were a lot of ups and downs with creating this, but ultimately things worked out in my favor. If I had more time, there would be things to fix, but this was a wonderful first experience with Unity's engine. I wanted to incorporate my general aesthetic into this game, aka, a LOT of pink. So, the candy theme was a bit of a shoe in. It also gave me an opportunity to make fun platforming elements by using different candies and sweets. Including a mini game in there was also something I'm very proud of, even with as finicky as it was. I hope you enjoy!
